The challenge
The name was the first problem. “Suds Doggery” is a coined word, and on its own it could belong to a laundromat or a car wash. Someone driving past would not know it was a place to bring their dog. The business is also bathing-first rather than a full-service groomer, so the brand had to say that clearly without falling back on the paw prints and bone shapes every pet shop already uses. The mark had to explain what the name could not.
The approach
We presented three logo concepts, and the client chose the third: a smiling dog lifting its chin out of a cloud of bubbles, set inside a blue circle with a single sparkle. It reads as “clean, happy dog” in one glance, which is the job the name could not do alone. The wordmark stacks “suds” over “doggery” in rounded, heavy letters, and the “o” in doggery can carry the dog mark as a small badge. Bright blue stands for water and clean, while sunny yellow and orange keep it warm and playful. We tested the mark from a 32 px favicon up to the storefront sign before signing off on the brand identity design. The copy follows the dogs, with short, cheeky lines like “Dogs will be dogs. We’ll handle the rest.” and “Clean dogs. Closer cuddles.”
The outcome
The identity now runs across more than 15 touchpoints: storefront signage and window graphics, a services menu board, opening-hours posters, groomer aprons, caps, embroidered patches, collars, bandanas, towels, a feeding mat, a dog shampoo bottle, beef stick treat wrappers, loyalty and gift cards, the suds dog website and a social media launch grid. Every piece uses the same mark and the same friendly voice, so someone who sees the bandana at the dog park recognizes the shop on the corner.
